Angel

Medium: Oil on canvas
Size: 1 × 1 × 1 cm
Year: 2024

Olga Trikhleb's 2024 work "Angel" is a circular canvas filled with a dense black background. In the center of the composition is a human silhouette with light-colored wings, painted in oils. The figure is captured in a dynamic, fractured movement with bent legs and outstretched arms. The large feathers of the wings are rendered with confident strokes of white and gray hues, creating a textured volume and contrasting with the dark base. The texture of the canvas is visible through the layers of paint, emphasizing the materiality of the pictorial surface. The cold monochrome palette accentuates the plasticity of the gesture and the relief of the brushstrokes.
